Many large breasted women have or will have pendulous breasts at some point in their life. Child birth, breast weight and weight loss/gain can cause or contribute to this. In our search for the best bra for pendulous breasts we used several major ranking factors including best support, comfort and overall functionality.
#1) Playtex Women’s 18-Hour Ultimate Lift And Support Wire-Free Bra
Playtex coming in first was a big surprise for us, they are not normally one of the companies that we consider to be a top of the line bra maker and it also does not have a underwire. With that being said this bra has really exceeded our expectations in comfort and lift for women with saggy pendulous breasts. We have heard nothing but great things about this bra and is now our number one pick.
Support – This bra gives great, if not excellent support in four directions including the side with no underwire. The wider than average band also helps give the cups a strong stable platform to be buit off of.
Straps – The straps are wider than the average bra in the front and cushioned. This allows for extra comfort and will keep your straps from shifting or coming of your shoulders.
Quality – The materials and fabric used are of great quality and the three hook closure is great since it spreads the stress out of a larger area than two hook models.
Cups – The cups are unpadded but have two layers of fabric. This is enough to keep things under control even in the coldest of weather and they are itch free.
Comfort – Very comfortable and the size is true. No need to guess if you need to go up a size or down a size. The material is very soft but remains strong to provide support.
This bra by Vanity Fair really lifts things up and hold them in place. This is an excellent choice for women with heavy breasts or plus sizes.
Straps – Extra wide straps in the front will not dig in or slide off your shoulder. Wider straps also distribute the weight of the breasts over a larger surface area making the bra more comfortable.
Band – The wings and band are wider than average bras allowing a lot of the weight to be taken of your shoulders. The wider wings also deal with side fat better creating a smooth appearance under clothing.
Cups – This bra has contour cups meaning that they will give you extra support while giving you a nice round, smooth shape and can be worn under any type of top.
Comfort – Being an underwire bra you would expect it to be uncomfortable but just the opposite is true. We have found this to be a very comfortable bra with no underwire poke.
Quality – Vanity Fair bra are generally built well with quality materials and fabrics. We have found that this bra stands true to that and will last you a long time if properly cared for.
#3) Wacoal Women’s Feather Embroidery Underwire Bra
The Wacoal Women’s Underwire Bra is another great choice for women with large pendulous breasts. It provides a lot of lift while projecting the breasts forward in the cup. The underwire is properly fitted in order to protect it from digging in or poking you.
Cups – The beautiful lace top is not just for appearance. Having a high flexible top will hold the upper breast tissue in place making this a great bra for women with firm or soft breast tissue. The underwire is also “free floating” allowing it to adjust and mold to your body.
Band – Wide wings allow for comfort and extra support. They will also help smooth out your side and back without creating those dreaded “jelly rolls”.
Quality – Wacoal makes great, high quality bras. This bra is no exception to that and you can expect this bra to last you at least a year or longer even if you machine wash which is not recommended.
Pendulous breasts are often refereed to as deflated, empty or saggy. Saggy is a very broad word that can describe any breast that either hangs low or is somewhat tubular. Pendulous or deflated breasts often have very soft tissue and a longer tubular appearance with the nipples pointing somewhat or completely downward. This is very common and normal after having children, losing weight or simply from aging. Pendulous breasts have much more tissue at the bottom of the breasts that at the top or what is known as the root. Many women with pendulous breasts describe them jokingly as “a tube sock with a grapefruit in it.” As funny as this may sound it is a very good comparison when describing pendulous breasts.
Soft tissue is very common in women with pendulous breasts. If your breasts are not firm, cave in on the sides or top when bent over or are very thin at the top but fuller at the bottom then you have soft tissue pendulous breasts.
Soft tissue and pendulous breasts often go hand in hand. The best bra for pendulous breasts needs to have deep cups and a soft or longer upper cup to stabilize and support the upper and thinner breast tissue. Having a soft upper cup will help stop the “jiggle” effect of your breasts even when performing vigorous activities. An underwire will also help greatly to lift the breast to create a more rounded shape rather than a longer shape. Rigid cups also help support the breast and keep them from sagging even further.
